Global Pay (Small Business)

  • Stakeholders (Project Team): Senior Product Designer, Project Design Manager (me) | Project Manager | Product Owner | Senior Management | UX Researcher | Development Engineers

  • Problem: American Express purchased a separate company, Kabbage. This project was to use the Kabbage functionality and upgrade the content and UI into Amex branding and design standards, while also improving the accessibility. Providing current Kabbage users the ability to create new user accounts on American Express website.

  • My Role: Create wireframes and mocks in Figma. Write content updates and present different UI options, discuss with the project team and assist in leading user testing. Manage all aspects of the design process and collaborate with the stakeholder team throughout the project lifecycle.

Wireframes (desktop):

Hi-Fidelity Mocks (mobile) — Responsive Design:

  • Debated should we use accordions to display hidden informational text or Tootips or both.

    • A - the default || B - Tooltip option || C - displaying the Responsive Design 12 Column Grid and spacing specs || D - Only to display more of the form for visual context

    • We ultimately did not use the tooltips (as displayed here they can cause user experience issues on mobile devices). Instead we decided on using a modal window with an X to close.

Qualitative Research — Problem Statement & Objective:

  • Problem Statement: Global Pay application journey has been refined through user input over time, including improvements to payments fields that saw increased interaction. Despite this, FX fields see considerable friction.

  • Objective: understand participant interaction with, and understanding of, payment fields.

  • The below screens are not the entire study and results. However, they give an overview of our process, findings and recommendations.
